Wheeling is moving forward on a new 288-unit apartment complex that will cater to young commuters looking to rent luxury living.
The modern apartments will be on about 20 acres at 100 and 250 Northgate Pkwy., vacant except for Northfield Presbyterian Church, which will be demolished. Reva Development Partners plan to build nine apartment buildings with one clubhouse.
The development is marketed toward young commuting professionals, as it is near both I-294 and the Wheeling Metra station. The station is under one mile from the property.
Each building will have 10 interior garages connected to the first-level apartments. The village board and plan commission pushed for more parking, but developers have assured them that 1.9 parking spaces per unit will cover the demand.
The apartments will price from $1,250 and increase to $2,000 depending on unit specifications such as the number of bedrooms or the addition of a connected garage.
The clubhouse will be for resident use, providing a pool and showering area, bicycle storage, a meeting area, an exercise room and a management office. A walking trail, which will be self-contained for the safety of the residents, is also planned.
Reva Development has built other residential rentals in the Northwest suburbs, including Heartfield in Glenview. The company is also proposing a multifamily housing complex in Vernon Hills called The Oaks.
